The Turquoise Coast is where a crewed gulet or motor yacht comes into its own — pine-clad bays, ancient ruins at the water's edge, and warm, glassy anchorages. Slow mornings, long swims, and coastline that stays quiet well into autumn.

Turkey's southwest coast is the Mediterranean at its most unhurried and its best value. Pine forests run right down to the water, ancient Lycian and Carian ruins sit half-submerged in the bays, and the sea is warm, sheltered and glassy for most of the season. It is the spiritual home of the gulet — the broad-beamed wooden motor-sailer — and a crewed week here is built around slowness: a swim off the stern before breakfast, a long lunch cooked on board, an afternoon ashore among the ruins.

The classic loop runs between Göcek, Fethiye and the Twelve Islands, with Ölüdeniz's famous lagoon and the sunken city of Kekova within reach. Bodrum, further north, adds a lively harbour town and a gateway to the Aegean. Because the season stretches from May well into October, Turkey is the answer when you want warm water and space long after the rest of the Med has emptied.
