Why Italy rewards a yacht

Italy is the Mediterranean at its most cinematic, and it does not give you one charter but three. A yacht ties them together and solves the country's biggest problem for the traveller on land: the crowds and the coast roads. You anchor where the day-trippers can't, come ashore on your own schedule, and move between anchorages while everyone else sits in traffic.

The three Italys

The Amalfi Coast and the Bay of Naples — Capri, Positano, Ischia, Procida — is pure theatre: vertical towns, sea caves and the most photographed coastline in the Mediterranean. It is busy in August, which is precisely why a yacht helps.

North Sardinia's Costa Smeralda is the glamour leg — Caribbean-clear water, the Maddalena archipelago and the polished Porto Cervo scene. Sicily and the volcanic Aeolian islands, with Stromboli glowing after dark, are wilder and far less sailed — the choice when you want nature and space over gloss.

When to go

The season runs May to September. June and September balance warm water with lighter crowds; August is peak Italian holiday season and the busiest and priciest. Rates are quoted per week plus an APA for running costs, and are confirmed by your broker against real availability.
